I hope to see you all at the JDRF TypeOneNation Summit this year! Camp is running the kids camp at the Summit so if you’d like to attend some breakout sessions without your children, drop them off at the Camp Ho Mita Koda Kids Camp! Kids Camp will include some traditional camp games, where there will be opportunities to win prizes, an art project that your camper will get to take home, and a kids yoga class! I get so motivated when I get hear about the newest diabetes technology! Who doesn’t like to nerd out over their Blood Glucose control Am I RIGHT?! It’s so amazing when we get together and share what has worked for us and how we use our technology to help manage our diabetes. I went to the Diabetes Education Camping Association’s national conference this year. At the conference I got to talk to two woman who were both using OpenAPS. I had not yet seen anyone use this software in real life! It was amazing to me that these women used the OpenAPS software and created a closed loop system with their old Medtronic pumps. I was also able to see the new Medtronic 670G that is the first FDA Approved closed loop system. It’s very inspiring to me to see all of this diabetes technology in use and to hear and see the positive effect it’s having on my peers with T1D is so remarkable! So if you’re like me and like to get together with T1D’s and talk diabetes. I will see you at the JDRF TypeOneNation Summit at the Cleveland Airport Marriott on April 28.
Registration for 2018 camp season is OPEN! I look forward to seeing all the new and returning campers this year for our fully packed summer schedule! Don’t forget to mark your calendars for the camp open house June 10! As always, if you have any questions please feel free to contact me at Rachael@camphomitakoda.org.
Happy Camping!!
