Receiving the unexpected news that your child has Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) is one of the scariest things that a family can go through. Sending your camper to overnight camp for an extended period away from home, especially after a recent diagnosis, can be equally as scary.
However, a positive camp experience during the first year of diagnosis provides a framework of support for both the camper and family that will carry through for the rest of their lives.

Camp Ho Mita Koda is proud to provide first-time campers who have received a T1D diagnosis within 12 months of the start of the camp with a FREE WEEK OF CAMP.
To take advantage of this opportunity, please complete our Financial Assistance Application. You will need to upload a copy of your hospital discharge paperwork to the application.
Please do not register for camp before you receive this discount. Any payment you make to camp before receiving confirmation of this discount will be non-refundable and will be applied as a credit for future enrollment.
The new diagnosis discount could not be possible without the ongoing support of the community, including the Lions and Masons clubs.
Screening for Type 1 Diabetes
Screening for T1D can help identify the condition before symptoms appear and there are proven benefits. If your child has been screened and the results show two or more antibodies, then it is likely your child will develop the condition.
Camp Ho Mita Koda welcomes children who have early stage T1D to attend any of our programs. We believe it is beneficial for these children to begin building their support systems and diabetes knowledge as soon as possible. With that in mind, if your family has a financial need, you are welcome to apply for financial assistance any of our programs. However, the New Diagnosis Discount will not take effect until your child is officially diagnosed with the condition.
