T1D Camps

We believe summer is a time for being outdoors, having wonderful experiences, making friends, and coming together as a community.  We foster this sense of exploration, creativity, and growth by engaging with each child (and their families), learning about their goals and needs, and helping them achieve their goals.  Whether the goal is to hit a bullseye in archery, pass a swim test, make new friends, tackle homesickness or tell a great joke to a large audience, our staff listen to our campers every day and help them every step of the way.

We look after each child’s physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being.

As a small midwestern traditional summer camp, we provide one-on-one engagement and encouragement with each camper. Put simply, no child falls through the cracks at Ho Mita Koda. Our cabin staff and activity staff are specially trained to watch and listen to what is going on with each camper, where they are excelling and where they are having difficulty. Our low camper-to-staff ratio enables us to meet our campers’ needs and ensure all our campers have a happy, healthy, and positive summer camp experience.

Leader-In-Training Program

Camp Ho Mita Koda offers a Leader in Training (LIT) program available for campers ages 16 & 17 years old and entering their sophomore year of high school.  The program emphasizes leadership skills, creativity, team building, and, most importantly, fun!  By acting as role models for younger campers and assisting in leading aspects of the camp program, it is our goal that our LIT’s walk away having learned new leadership skills, having formed lasting memories with our youngest campers.

Become a LIT

To sign up your camper for our LIT program, please ENROLL.  Once you put in your camper’s information, our system will automatically recognize their eligibility for our LIT program and present that as a program option for the camp session of your choice.

If you would like more information about the Leader in Training program, please do not hesitate to contact our office.

Buddy Camp!

CHMK invites T1D campers to bring their buddies (siblings, cousins, friends, neighbors, etc.) — not only to help grow their support community when they return to their neighborhoods and schools, but to grow the community of T1D advocates across Ohio.

Campers will have the opportunity to enjoy all of the great things about camp, while building a solid foundation of support with their “buddy”.

WHO: Grades K-11 with AND  without diabetes.
WHAT: A weeklong adventure with your buddy
WHERE: Camp Ho Mita Koda!
WHEN: June 19 – 25, 2022 (K-6), July 10 – 16, 2022 (7-11)
WHY:  Build a solid foundation of support amongst your personal friends

Adventure Bridge Program

The CHMK Adventure Bridge program exists for campers who just cannot get enough of CHMK and want to extend their stay for an additional week!  Currently, this option is available for eligible campers enrolled for both Sessions 1 & 2 for K-6 and Sessions 4 & 5 for grades 7-11.

The Adventure Bridge program allows campers to remain onsite at camp through the transitional days between the two sessions to continue an uninterrupted experience.  During this period, campers can still count on the high level of medical care to continue, great food, and non-stop action and adventure.  We will even do your campers’ laundry to ensure they are 100% ready to tackle another full week of fun!

This program is an optional add-on to enrollment and not required for attendance to both sessions, and is not eligible for the early bird discount.
