Hello families! This is Lisa Roberts, the Assistant Director here at CHMK. I’m opening a new section in our newsletter that focuses on health and fitness for the whole family!
As we all know, leading a healthy life is important for many reasons. However, how many times are we stuck trying to find fun ways to get our sweat on? What about trying to find ways to get the whole family involved? Well I am pleased to tell you about some awesome local places where you and your children can have a good time and burn some calories in the process!
SkyZone:
This trampoline park is a great place to bring the family for an hour or two, and you are guaranteed to have a good time regardless of age! With locations scattered across northeast Ohio, there’s definitely a location for you to jump around, play some dodgeball, or even jump into a foam pit! And with all that constant movement, it’s relatively easy to burn some calories quick!
Lazer Tag:
Truth be told, lazer tag can be a real burner if you get into it! With many locations popping up across all areas, this can be an awesome time to build teamwork, get competitive, and get lots of running in! Some of my favorite locations are Area 51 in Middleburg Heights, Lazer Quest in Fairlawn and Canton, and Scene 75 in Brunswick.
Mountain Biking:
This is truly a hidden gem in Cleveland. We have quite a few amazing places for you and your child to experience a whole new activity and change the way you ride a bike! The cool thing is, some of these places are absolutely free! If you’re looking for a fun challenge, check out the Cleveland Metroparks’ own Bedford Trail or Royalview Trail. For an indoor experience, Ray’s Mountain Bike Park in Cleveland will give you a whole new perspective on indoor biking! Not only is this a great activity for all ages, but biking can burn between 400-600 calories an hour (actual calories burned will vary by person and energy exerted)
As our winter season comes to an end, be sure to try out some as a way to break in Spring and get the whole family moving into the warmer months! As always, I am very excited to see all of our old and new faces this summer! Be prepared to have a blast at camp and maybe do a push-up or two! (Just kidding!)
