Leadership Development
Camp Ho Mita Koda
Leadership Development Program (LDP)
*The program has been put on hold due to COVID-19
To support the continued growth and forward momentum in becoming the country’s premier summer camp for kids with Type 1 Diabetes, Camp Ho Mita Koda has developed a Leadership Development Program (LDP) to attract a team of high-caliber and well-trained camp professionals that have the knowledge and passion to realize the vision of the Camp Ho Mita Koda Foundation, while helping lead our summer camp program to greatness.

How Does The Program Work?
Through an interview and selection process, five individuals who display an intense desire to learn and grow within the summer camp industry will be selected. This cohort will meet once per month from October 2020 through May 2021, while attending intensive workshops dedicated to differing topics. The cohort will also gain several industry certifications, attend a fall retreat, a spring backpacking trip, and complete a final capstone project.
The program and all components (workshops, events, trainings, etc.) are done on a volunteer basis and cohort members will not be hired as staff of the Camp Ho Mita Koda Foundation. Upon successful completion of the LDP, candidates will receive priority in filling CHMK season and FT paid positions as they become available.
Who is this program for?
The CHMK LDP is designed for any individuals who desire to build their leadership resume and are seeking a seasonal leadership position or full-time position within the Camp Ho Mita Koda Foundation or the outdoor education/adventure industry. Preference for future seasonal and FT employment with the CHMK Foundation is given to graduates of the LDP program. However, this program is open to anyone interested in furthering their education and leadership skill, even if they will not work at CHMK in the future.
