RESOURCES & EDUCATION!

Our goal at CHMK is to make this the best job ever for all staff. On this page you can find many resources to help set you up for success while working at CHMK. Staff Training is the most important time of the year for us and it is imperative that all staff familiarize themselves with the information necessary for us to operate a successful program. If you feel that your needs are not being met or you would like additional information to help you feel confident and competent, please reach out to Ian Roberts at ian@camphomitakoda.org or 440-739-4095.

Staff Manual Attachments

It is your responsibility to print off and create your own staff manual this year. Please include ALL attachments that are listed and place them in a binder. We will NOT have additional copies of materials at staff training. If you are in need of support in getting the forms printed off, please let us know. Please utilize this site at any time to revisit the content and refresh yourself.

Technical Skills Videos & Pre-Season Field Classes

Our technical skills videos will help you learn/refresh yourself on the skills you’ll be using with kids at camp.  Please keep in mind, not all of these skills are required for every position, and some of the concepts may be beyond the technical level you are teaching in your role.

Here are some camp & teaching resources we have come to love:

Field Classes
Fields classes are opportunities to refresh or learn climbing and biking skills while meeting new Camp Ho Mita Koda friends. Below are the various opportunities to take a pre-season field class this spring:

Learning to speak Type 1 Diabetes

Consider the following: The endo says you’re in DKA with an A1c of 11 and that there’s a chance you’re still in the honeymoon phase.

Wait, what? If you’re new to type 1 diabetes (T1D), that probably doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. But these terms are ones that people with T1D have had to make part of their everyday vernacular.

If you’ve received a type 1 diabetes (T1D) diagnosis within your family, or if you’re learning about the disease, there are several terms commonly used when discussing the treatment and management of T1D. Check out the T1Dictionary, grouped by topic, with definitions of the words we think will be the most helpful to know.
